MTCC supplies cultures with its own accession number only. These cultures are to be used only for research purpose. In the service and fee structure you can find the details about how to obtain the cultures from MTCC. Regarding the cultures with other culture numbers, search the catalogue using equivalent number option and look for the strains required for your work. And send the request by online after paying the fee by  online transaction with transaction number and date. We will able to process the requests received on email.

MTCC provides Two Types of deposits :-

  1). Public Deposit

  2). Confidential Deposit :

        a). Safe deposit.

        b). Patent deposit (Deposit under Budapest Treaty).

 

 The cultures to be deposited are of interest to MTCC from diversity point of view. Strains of any navel species are accepted. If MTCC already has several strains of a particular species, additional strains of that species may not be accepted for general deposit. For accepting bacteria under general deposit we need both phenotypic and 16S rRNA gene sequence (at least 1400 bases, along with chromatograms). For fungi and yeast we need either sequence data of ITS region or D1/D2 domain of 26S rRNA gene along with chromatograms. 

Classical  (Conventional biochemical and morphological characteristics) :

 Phenotypic Characterization :Phenotypic characterization which includes Morphological, physiological, biochemical and antimicrobial            susceptibility test.          

Advance Characterization (Modern Techniques) :

  BIOLOG Analysis : It is used to identify bacteria, yeast and fungi based on biochemical activity. microorganism's ability to utilise or oxidise a     carbon sources.

 VITEK Analysis : The VITEK 2 is an automated microbiology system utilizing growth-based technology. The systems accommodate the    colorimetric reagent cards that are incubated and interpreted automatically.

 MALDI Biotyper Analysis : The MALDI-TOF MS technique determines peptide/protein fingerprints for the identification of bacterial species.  Based on the mass-charge (m/z) ratio the chromatographic spectrum compares with the database and identifies the bacterial species.

 FAME Analysis :  The cellular fatty acid analysis for bacterial identification is based on the specific fatty acid composition of the cell wall. To    cleave the fatty acids, saponification, methylation, extraction and sample clean-up process will be carried out. The fatty acids are extracted from  cultured samples and are separated using gas chromatography.

 Molecular Characterization : 

 

Sequencing of 16S rRNA gene (Bacteria) :   The 16S rRNA gene has become a reliable tool for identifying and classifying bacteria.

Phylogenetic tree construction :   The use of 16S rRNA phylogenetic sequence analysis is now accepted as a reliable molecular method for identification of microbial communities. The 16S rRNA sequence fetched in the database and it identifies the reference strains and the sequence to be edited, aligned and constructed phylogenetic tree using MEGA 6.0 version.

 



The MTCC undertakes freeze-drying of cultures for researchers. Interested persons should contact the Curator prior to availing this facility.

Cultures normally dispatched by register parcel in about 15-20 days after receiving the request along with payment. If u wants cultures by DTDC you can include additional fee of RS.100/- in the fee. We send the acknowledgement to the email id given by the customer.

Once we dispatched the cultures from MTCC, we will send the acknowledgement to the email id given by the customer. In that we mention the tracking id to track your parcels through:

After receiving request for the cultures along with payment, it will take 2 weeks to process your request. Once your order is dispatched we will send the acknowledgement to your email with parcel tracking details.
